On September 29, 2026, Taiwanese power supply major Delta Electronics unveiled an AI Modular Data Center (AI MDC) for the NVIDIA Vera Rubin architecture at Data Center World (DCW) Asia 2026 in Singapore. The prefabricated, factory-assembled design integrates next-generation 800 VDC in-row power with a liquid cooling system.
Delta also presented a microgrid combining renewables, battery storage, solid oxide fuel cells (SOFC) and a solid-state transformer (SST). The proposal links power distribution inside the data center with on-site power intake and generation, using the same 800 VDC approach.
800 VDC in-row power specifications
800 VDC in-row power
660 kW output, up to 98% AC-DC efficiency, 480 kW BBU capacity.
In-row CDU
HVDC-ready, 3.6 MW. Handles liquid-cooling heat row by row.
Container data center (CDC)
Up to 60 kW per rack in the footprint of one parking space, PUE 1.19.
Microgrid
Integrates renewables, storage, SOFC and SST. Converts medium voltage directly to 800 VDC and copes with grid connection delays.
"In-row" refers to placing power and cooling equipment within the rows of server racks. Rather than converting power centrally in an electrical room, 800 VDC is supplied row by row. As seen in the rollout plans of Vertiv, Schneider Electric and Foxconn, the NVIDIA-led shift to 800 VDC is entering the productization stage over 2026–2027. Delta's announcement is part of that trend.
For smaller deployments, Delta also showed a prefabricated AI Container Data Center (CDC). It houses AI compute of up to 60 kW per rack in the footprint of a single parking space and, combined with a liquid-to-air CDU, achieves a PUE of 1.19, according to Delta. At board level, Delta also exhibited a cold plate dedicated to Vera Rubin NVL72.
The microgrid: running without waiting for the grid
The SST is at the heart of the microgrid. Delta positions it as essential equipment for converting medium-voltage power directly to 800 VDC. In a DC-coupled prefabricated configuration, the SST, DC/DC converters and storage are combined to reduce the number of conversion stages and respond to fluctuating AI loads.
The other aim is resilience against grid connection delays. By controlling multiple power sources in real time, the system maintains operation and power quality while grid connection is delayed or while running independently of the grid. The SOFC provides 24-hour on-site power.
For SSTs, data center product announcements keep coming, such as DG Matrix doubling output to 400 kW using SiC. Delta packages its power, cooling and microgrid offerings together as a "Grid-to-Chip" product lineup.
What it means for facility planning and procurement
- The unit of power is changing: 800 VDC power is starting to be sold as row-level modules. Rather than locking in electrical room design first, it becomes easier to plan for adding power as rack rows are added
- Grid-delay countermeasures are now in the product: power vendors are selling configurations that fill grid connection delays with on-site power as part of the data center equipment. For projects with uncertain connection dates, it is worth evaluating alongside the power intake plan
- The figures are exhibit specifications: these numbers come from a trade show announcement; shipment timing, pricing and customer deployments have not been disclosed. Procurement decisions require individual confirmation
