Zigor power conversion deal closes, US manufacturing to ramp

Nextpower announced on July 30, 2026 that it had completed the acquisition of Zigor Corporation's power conversion business (Spain) and complementary assets from its US subsidiary, Apex Power. The acquired assets include UL-certified central inverters, central inverter solutions up to 5.2 MVA, proprietary inverter technology, supply chain capabilities, and engineering teams in the US and Spain. The deal was originally announced as a definitive agreement in May 2026 (reported at roughly $80.5 million in cash plus up to $34.5 million in contingent payments), reaching close in about two months.

Multiple US sites, targeting over 10GW within 12 months

Following the close, Nextpower laid out plans to ramp manufacturing across multiple US sites. It set a concrete target of starting deliveries in early 2027 and bringing more than 10GW of capacity online within 12 months. The company's CEO emphasized that the acquired modular platform was designed around field serviceability.

At the time of the earlier definitive-agreement announcement, the inverter products being acquired were described as supporting 1500V for new battery storage and solar installations and 600V/1000V for repowering applications, with 2000V-ready designs already complete. Nextpower has also outlined plans to enter the market for energy supply systems serving large, blended loads such as AI data centers, alongside its existing battery storage and solar focus. Integrating existing solar trackers and electrical balance-of-system (eBOS) with power electronics is expected to improve overall system performance and reduce procurement complexity.

Closing

Deal closed July 30, 2026 — about two months after the May definitive agreement.

02

Assets acquired

UL-certified central inverters, solutions up to 5.2MVA, proprietary tech, US/Spain engineering teams.

03

US manufacturing plan

Ramping across multiple sites. Deliveries start early 2027, targeting over 10GW within 12 months.

04

New market entry

Plans to enter energy supply systems for large blended loads such as AI data centers.

Power conversion M&A is one example of AI data center power demand pushing established solar and storage inverter makers to expand their footprint. For buyers, progress against the stated "10GW within 12 months" target will be the real test of this as a credible new sourcing option.
